representing owner here. Known M. Day. Has 20ga shotgun - shot at planes
this morning. David Tugiller in area. Darton in same pato. Zariza occasions.
says local log gets many minor bomber under chute "the fun" logs. We
hope to go to San Antonio w. him tomorrow. He offered one of boxes or base.
No says Mari is too much pretentious; wants this area united as protected natural
park. Seems remedying it ecology. | Noon - no birds in net, but two new holes.
Almost clear warm day day; dingy morning, 50°F at 0630. | Redback small
snake or road thi mornng; ESTK spec.; photo. Pajaro - gray, vs band tiler;
jaguar
shot-billed p.? log. 5±. | Lunch w. Rodolfo. A boy said know of shell near
San Antonio; killed in area about 7 yrs. ago. All agreed this was a tyrillus.
| Clear warm afternoon. Walked trails to S. Beloparam on log. Little activity.

saw seedeater syntaby (Orzylome?) | Visited site illegal logging, ¼ mi.
to E. Logs pulled down slope out of forest on clay path w. poles of
ofen. | One net remains up. Set 12 traps. Net held flyc. hummer with
green gorget + blue frontal area; if fed, held acornite, released). | Ear-head
owl calls - hollow woody timbre; monotone, 5-7 notes; .. . big? In
above
at least 2 areas fast; also higher similar calls (? ?). | Now + head copins-
nwulside on road in eve; white throat, white underwing bar far out. One call
white curra. | EST heard lots of ow cleaning, but saw none. | Whistly calls at
dusk in front = teranum? Clear eve sky.
March 1978. Cold; 42°F at 0700. Clean. Trops O (brush + forest) swept
for a large troqusture in ESTK moustings. Net took Empidius fulvifume;
photoed + released. Saw or quetzal in flight + perched; near road, ¼ mi.N
of house. ES fairly sure saw ? near it first. | Jay-sized bird: uniform
dark rufous look flushed from 2" drain. Hole in yellow clay vertical
bank at side road, 10' up. ½ bursten, flushed again. Nest? Furrow-
ld ? | On ground in opened forest saw 2 large olive-green fincher? W.
