Saw Coptia ides; 2 together, + Wilson's warbler, hummingbirds, green sparrows, other birds. 45° F. 22 Feb. 1978. Overcast but high. Waited for 0730 hrs to Guate. New road saw Accipiter fly over, & one long-tailed trogon (: quetzal). Heard Ontalis calls from nearby area. / Burnt wood 0740. 10 min. to Chilonzo Rd.; 2 3 min. to La Canche, 4800': Wst. front cleared to (1/10 cloudy) dryer, wr. some pairs, & clean skies, nr. Matangar. Perrier's stopped about 2500'. Lamey, dry brush smell, mosquito; few rock anteaters. Morgan rd. jit, km 102, 1400'. Ocellibra costae (?), + some flat-billed costae. Rocky soils. Grazing tenuous trails.. 800'; dry creek & dry river bed; longer trees w. green leaves line shores. Thicker mosquito & costae. Sampled about 1,000'. Steel bridge, wst., riparian trees, 600'; 1 km. to El Ronto. 70 min. to there. / A stop of about 20 min. Saw yiguanas, to 2' long, in market; ins- cursive, or larger lizards above shops. / Delay on road at Agua Cal- iente for 1/4 hrs. Arrive Guate 1:30.
