We saw several of Dany's PREA reports; mostly lists, compilation of water analysis data (chemical) for many stations around lake. Worried about possibility of introduct- on of eptaria in L. de Izabal. / We returned to lake area. Set out 2 nets on lower slopes to N of road, where mainly bushy weed growth w. larger twigs in arrays. Both E + Iw. G1 pond. 10 Feb 1978. Rain at daybreak. One net to N had 2 catfish, literatus + 2 catfishes. Other, closer in newly cleared area swath in brush, had a lit., 2 a. platy, + 2 glossopeg- ines, collected seeds of + Amegilla. Released birds. / A Myrion tuberculata had ½" follicles. Well later in marsh, garden net took many bristled grasshoppers, 2 green cranes (? see over) Calm CK 4637 sunset day. Crude to colony to shop. Took 8 Holing? (gathering?) in garden net. / It took it easy w. gut trouble today. / One night palm stolen? Took down nets in pupa, for chance tomorrow. 11 Feb. 1978. Saturday. To shore opposite colony at 07:00. Calm, ¼ moon. Anablepses in mangrove flowers had at least 4 orioles (J. griseocephalus) flying. Many bees around flowers. Also 2 large blackbirds (Dives?), + a hummingbird (Amazilia sp.). / Talked to a man going fishing + hunting; waters low but formerly lots, bassias. Saw shark. Said hunters permission & topographic at night at head of lake. Big per- cary also present. Ajapian killed person lake, not long ago. Main food fish in lake is roblete (= smelt ?) the many tarpon. Also marlin. A guy said heard that manatees found dead near lake about 2 mos. ago. He had heard that meat sometimes sold for 40¢/lb, have a N of swallow nr. rope thicket in field or dock; noting? / Found boat came at 9 a.m. about 14 passengers w. me in Betan
