it left roost on one side, another walked across road following first. Woods bordered road line. Only ½ mile by road from Loguero family house, so it seems they do not kill the wildlife. / Again saw the Crysopyga bird at short distance, walking up canal. Also found a mata-mata turtle, carapace 13", walking slowly; we walked it off, photoed, released in big pond. / Mod. large today; smoky haze & rain-station close. / Returned to Cara Platana lagoon at 10a.m. Still no gasoline. / At one point on road, a saw photo white-bellied small caracara stood perched on large yellow bull lying down. Lopewrip - spires & small flowers seen. Called "Brigitte, candir" or "branca alvora"; common around lagoon. A flock 50+ included about 20 to red-headed adults. / In one spot in field, flock of glossy ibis, many jochuan, 2 jabiru, 1 scarlet ibis, 1 big white egret, a few yellow-mocked ibis (Christina), + a few cattle - in area 50 m. across w. large green weeds. Near house, large & small dove on ground, Forpus parrot, blackbird flocking, killdeer. / We returned to Caño 70 about 4:30 p.m. We took a few dead fish to put out on bait, (c. caride) caught a few pincher for same. Hung there on sticks or from wire, our soft ground, or put dust on ground below to get turtles. / Found old turtle, judged extinct (7½ cm across top), now small mud pond. / Again saw Crysopyga, one about 2 km SE of Cara Mercedes, in Caño 70 when about 25 yrs. wide, we saw a barrel-like object, stuck up in water, moving erratically; on closer approach proved to be an Anaconda bill. We saw at least 4, possibly 6, at least 3 being smaller & darker grey brownish. Larger ones very glossy fine & tail. Occasionally came up & blew, or sent bubbles out, moved a fin in tail. Other times, water boiled & serpents not visible in muddy water. Cichlid sat on bank & strummed points of their comb in water; this seemed caused change in dolphin activity. Some
