Koford 15 Journal 3 March 1973 Bogota, Colombia. certain species of wildlife. Feb. 27/1973. Two appendices were lists of species & subspecies prohibited; and those for restricted utilization. The prohibited distinct included F.p. nattereri & masoni, F.u. microagates solivini, F.t. arnoldi, F. jamaicensis, & P. orca. / Jorge thought little catus had from Canada, but no evidence. He said one smuggling chain then Bogota to Maraca and up the Andes to Guyana. Curacao & Port of Spain may be smuggling ports. He hopes to arrange import convention w. Venezuela soon. Still vague on terms of agreement w. Brazil. / He was waiting for minimum of at least 3 years in cat hunting. Said had secret records from Europe of airline carrying skins & etc. This evidence could achieve much in reducing trade. He thought agreement w. Panama also needed. He said Coypus probably occurs in Colombia including llanos and prob- ably made the runways we saw there (subsp. capybarae?). To Caracas, Venezuela 4 March 1973. Sunday. To airport and departed 2 p.m. on plane for Caracas. Boarded Mordelphi - today start of Carnaval, & next two days holidays. Stayed at hotel in Bello Monte. Walked w. A. Lima at night. Thousands revelers, government crews w. confetti. 5 March 1973. Went to home of C. Mordelphi in Alto Florida. / He said red front area in NE Amazones, "Kotaje", accessible by airplane (his cousin (?) who goes weekends). He was interested in Eisenberg project. / He said jaguars surely in Iguapo park, 1/4 hr. from Caracas; we killed them about 6 yrs. ago. People believed it went for jags going out into semi undulating zone. / T. Blehm has acquired puma cubs in local Cavea & planned to stock w. motis animals; 2 grunts, female; may be good for skeleton study site. / H.F. Timme said had examined about 6 skeleton stomachs; contents mostly cricetid rodents + 1 agouti (also sting, no subspecies except a dead), lizards, turtle. / Near Paragua, N. central
