Felis area 13 October 1971 in 5 yrs.; perhaps < 100 sq. miles, he said, consid- [illegible] being uneven seen (yielded at least 15 per yr., w/ no notable decrease). He was dogged and partner (50/50) with Lee Bros of Tucson, who first hunted Mexican jaguars here. JFF bought [illegible] dogs from them. 13 October 1971 Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico, Visited shop of Aviles Bros., who advertise jaguar and other hunting. Roberto & Carlos, best sources out, but I talked w/ (another brother?). Got yr. met. He said no law enforcement [illegible] (we heard some at San Ignacio), that cats prohibited into U.S. except under permit. He thought many less than 30 yrs. ago. I couldn't pry any specific info out of him concerning places or hunters. They had 2 customs truck, with their insignia, camped in front. Could help if paid, I think. They know Rambo Ferreira, of course. 16 October 1971. Talked with men taking supplies to Tepic. He said tepic (or tigillos?) mean Laguna Santo Maria, above Tepic. 17 October 1971. Mr. Texpan, Nayarit Jose Perez Medina, local truck driver & farmer, and others in shrimp coop, thought "tigres" came down into swamps in the dry season, December on. His friends and relatives near Santa Cruz line up of rare nearby. Perez said he saw hide (tigre crochet?) in market at Texpan, recently. Francisco Orozco Vazquez,
