I looked over J. Crespo's range maps for Argentina.
gioffrenzi - 4 subsp.; all over Argentina to about 41°S,
incl. open country. F. georgica - along Andes & Chile
from about 40°- 48° S. jocasta - Andes, S. to
about 32° (a little N. of Mendoza). pardinii - from
(formerly S. into Córdoba).
E. of Salta, S. to Corrientes, to about 29° S. In Brazil,
in Sta. Catarina but not R.G. do Sul. F. tigrina - NE
corner Salta - W. boundary to E. of pardinii. SE boundary
S. of pardinii, into R.G. do Sul in Brazil. tigrina wiesi -
like pardinii but in E. farther S. than tigrina or pardinii,
into N. Uruguay . yagoundi - S. to about 41°, perhaps
extending range to S. Mostly farther inland than pardinii.
yagua - about 65° long. live in W., S. to spot along
river in N& Córdoba (5-6 yrs. ags), generally to
about 27°S., including N. Misiones . F. colocolo - all
over Uruguay & most of Argentina. / X. had copy of
proposal by P. Benie, U. Sea, to study all bands
of spotted cats in Argentina, Paraguay, by radio
telemetry & other means. Too all inclusive for 2
yrs., especially in difficult country (Juarana tongue,
mosquitoes, disease). / Jiménez also talked w. Araya;
I hoped would help him get started on limited
project. Bob Brownell, working on dolphin,
with funds from Smithsonian & Nat'l Geographin,
accompanied Jiménez. / Max talks w. Crespo.
