Apparently much less in number than in Venezuela.
30 July 1972 Sun. Buenos Aires
Visited various areas including zoo. Over all rather fat
+ far 2 cheetahs, afr. lion, tiger - but jaguar ? ocelot?
Coyes old, rather run down. Some Plobati old cager
with scallops + gerijlreed on top. Many people.
Near Playa d'Italia. Dolichotis running loose on
danna, when tame, sat in open. Sauro guaya
in pen.
31 July 1972. Monday. Went to fur tanning of
Deerfield (Babil Blanco 1350, out from Premio Junta),
where talked w. president, Juan A. S. Menda: Asoc.
Indust. de Aprestos y Tintorero de Pielas. It said taking
of jaguar & ocelot prohibited for last 2 yrs., as so in
Argentina, but some imported legally, other not. This
company dresses furs for others - some died even
sent from U.S. to have no interest in continuing
supply of cats - do about 100 jaguars + 1000
ocelots per year. Stats notes - common - 1971,
about 1850 new-to-ZF exported by country (jaguar
