(2) 25 July 1972 Rio de Janeiro Sales of skins confiscated, should be included in IBGE book, Annuais Estadisticas, said Carvalho. Seems apparently in Dept. Agriculture - C, theirs should be in Interior. These are state game officials (wardens?), C. says. Needed - enforcement of Pan American Convention, Bolivia & other countries. There have been skin confiscations in Oceanic - Schwerty? Dr. Spots Fechner - from Brazil. Should allow import only with papers, saying raised in Brazilian states. Carvalho will go to College Station, Texas, soon for a stay of one month. He has large pencil table of skins for or hand when trade stopped, & hopes to finish & publish - wayby finished by January. Went to downtown office of IBDF on or Antonio Carlos, 607, 12th, and received copy of game laws. On 7th floor, at Biblioteca, saw bulletins already published and secured some. 26 July 1972. Again to Museu Nacional. Met Dr. Castro Cora (Inst. Florestal) de Carvalho, family at Museu Izoldi, now with forestry C.P. 1322, dept in São Paulo. He thought probably jaguar or Marajo, and probably a Moro do Diabo preserve near state line west (?) of São Paulo. / Fernando P. suggested Jenney at museum in Montevidos as source of information. Unable to get Dr. Machado, hunter. Wrote a letter to him, & to João João Marjém. Prepared to depart Brazil.
