C. Korod 56 Journal 21 July 1972 Aquidauana, Mato Grosso, Brazl/ He said cervo also rare, largely because of softors. Said cervo selecte, had bad times during dry periods. Fazendario pro- ject cervo now. Less flooding than years ago - unfavorable to cervo. Hot weather, once pastados may lie in water. He has hunted only w. dogs, in day. No killing at night. Rare for pursued joguar to go upater. Jog. kills cattle by letting back of head. Eats gado, canino, gurejado, caicatu -and lint. Seemed sympathetic to wildlife. Said he had killed six joguirs. Told story - about 1910, man killed pregnant & ; opened, had 2 cubs. One kept alive as pet-slept on bed, guarded daughter. One when licked girls arm, she pulled away & joguir bit her. Sent to zoo in Rio. One day shot at a really killed keeper. Moral - never really tame - inherently wild!
