C. Kofard 55 Journal 20 July 1972 Aquidauana, Mato Grosso, Brazil at Baronesa Camello, on Miranda Colonia, in 1944. Z said S first hunted in Densalador area & north. S had bone boat, river boat, all Hunted equipmt. Hunted many areas. (I think) he got 200 or so for removing an area pir- [illegible] toas. (Conversation with Z in Portuguese). Z had photos at least 2 hunters. Mirial, in 1965-66, Anoesia, Campos do Indio. Z remembers little of biological data; thought S had notes on size, weight, etc. S civil addresses: Green Lane, Penns. Newwood 2324. Later - S Mirial, Museum and Stree, Rte. 29, Carbondenville, Pa.] Z said some called once through barrel of shotgun. Z said only .22 rifle necessary to disabled shooting ins at medial eye. Said ate many guayaba - also alligator, turtles, tapir - usual list; not antelope. Z first in Mato Grosso in 1927, when rough dangerous place. Z thought this Foz do was still an oca hunter & equipment on Trepacement (SP ?), next to Miranda. Son of Z, about 20, said did much local hunting near Aquidauana at night. They both knew well of prohibition of hunting cats. Z said family saw and lost top of strike to trade oclete. Steel trap - once p. claws off own foot. Son said oclete not far from town. | We stayed with Padre Redentorista. 21 July 1972. Gordon had not returned from Trepacement. We visited Sr. Sr. Sady Braga in Aquidauana. He had Foz do. Saison, aunt of Mir- anda cat. Said had hunted 1946 to 1962 (when injured by gunshot). Said killed 64 onca pintado, only 4 parda (thought none or pantanal). Known & avoided Serral; said once S put camera in with joguin, & latter feared the snake. He hunted now on his Ariraguas. Said joguin almost finished - also latia and arianabo. Oclet - no info. He said had never met commercial hunter. Ranchers paid Serral expenses to hunt their areas.
