C. Kofod 53 Journal 18 July 1972 Miranda Estancia, Mato Grosso Brazil 30' up in flamboyant, commuted most of small long pointed-tailed guan parrots; 2 seen in each of 2 of the 3 entrances... Took photo. Jorge Olbei said next two civil gyans. | Jorge said that arapa santurim whistle like ticsmon (Crypturellus) In eve, with headlamp, saw red eyes about 20 canines in swampy broken lake near home. Bats flew low mean + under mango tree in yard. Saw caprimulgids on road while driving; heard near house in evening. 19 July 1972. Wednesday. Cirim boys; women. In swamp near houses, where brushy corn, capilara droppings & old skull. D. said can see jaguars, canquado, caïtatu. | Many charbelacras in front edge just N. of retiro's buildings; many colas seen, morning. | Yesterday saw trayan with red vesta, green back, along road. | G. said hard to find serro (Blastocerus) than onça. He could recommend no specific place for guaxiúva - said in swampy banks, near water. | We paddled around edge of W. half lake; saw edgetons, beavers, gorillas, but no manimals (2 hrs.). | About 1/4 mi. E. of house, 2 scremers (Chauna) Chavino on green grass meature; flew when approached to 100'. Later photos 2 in swamp edge, at about 60'. | Saw glary iris, black & white silva. | About 2 p.m., D. showed us jolin's nest above road about ½ mile E. of house. In middle large tree, then leaf cover, on open branch about 30' up, a pair of storks about 5' diameter, 3
