3 July 1972.
Faza, Bodeguera, Mato Grosso, Brazil.
He said saw last one female 5 yrs. ago. Carlin, felled 13 in 5 yrs. He said being culture now. Alex said never professional hunter here -- perhaps 5. Animals. Another had dogs. Mostly, men saw nuttara near camp & found jojuera there. / Grand buildings, in open trees (seen at least 5 Furmanini of the Lute) mud nests, 9' to 15' up. One had 2 perch'd next to it. A white-colored bird in open; gray, black, white throat, wing bar. Woodpecker (?) too. / Returned to Budgegatera. Fruit fell in wrong areas, leaving dead stalk & exposed tall trees. / Last eve, took 1 hr. walk a dirt road about 8:30-9:30. Saw 3 capybaras on ground (light color; strong white marks) away dry river at edge woods, one small deer (manguna ?) in green leg bones, one covid (fox? - long gray hair, same black area ; stilly) on ground, one Didelphus in tree. Heard no bird calls. / Got large anthur swamp den (Blaster.) in well at Fita's Bodegu, 2 sets at home at Budgegatera. None of pampa deer seen yet.
4 July 1972. Departed 0400 by pickup for Mirimado (sp ?) rios, on Miranda ruins. First out to dirt highway at Baixum site ; then w., turned off to Bodeguena rios, then n. to m. Rui 100' wide; said had fish-piano, pear, others. Many birds in early morning. Foggy. A jalinus flew up from road, carrying stem in bill. Saw a "fox," perhaps 5 kg, gray w. black tail & drawn. About 5 wooden beds. 3 days since of seeing. "Capit" said had never seen jojuera on tracks there. Several men were pistol- one shot at a caperca in tree. / Heard Furmanini in yards. A few "carindis" or parrot + woodpecker. At edge woods, red crested woodpecker, jay (black head, white belly), other birds. / Soon left w. 4 others on backroad, to look new route near road on pattered. We each had 2 sharp flowers under pad as top of saddle -- comfy & soft. We road through grass 6 to 8 tall, and shrubs, palms, meguite. Not muddy a dump. We passed large field of
