Near partly eaten calf. Dogs quickly picked up trail and cornered
jaguar. 8 3/2 leg. 189 cm + 59 1/2 tail. Peso 99, cuello 61, brazo
36, reba 26. 07 # 663. He showed me skull. His small portion
molar. //He also found note on me
March 1969, by Dr. Pedro Gonzalez Vers: 140 kilos, 260 tot. length.
A museum shell, no. 712, 07, from Cano Agua Verde, Edo. Guarico,
April 18, 1945, taken by Paul Stempel. Large skull. //Foods reported:
capybara, peccary, 3 kinds turtle, caiman, jaguar.
Puma taken was deer. Calves, occa. large cattle, pigs, dogs,
mongoose turtles
eggs turtle. Mosa has tough shell; jaguar removes meat w/o
drinking shell. But open tortugas. //Strangely, M. did not know
that for 2 years no permits to take jaguar had been issued. He said
source used by hunter from Colombia. /Mordoffi had told look at
home, & gave me info. from it. Jan. 16, 1963, 4 had 3 almost
/83 mm.

March 1952, 14-15 ? &; 2 cubs about 8 mos., one w. 2
about 1 1/2 yrs., one w. 3 cubs. One w. 2 emb., one w. 2 emb., other
awed. Was this Lee Bros. hunt? //We had steak lunch w. Mordoffi,
Ojasti. In evening, visited Mordoffi at home. Tomas Blohm, keen
man in 40's, also came - strong conservationist. He had idea of
putting jaguars on island in lake S. of Caraco. Also interested in
other preserves. We had lunch in Guarico about 8 mi. N. of Corozo
