tousand skins which may eventually sell. | Museum has 2 subsps of F. parselii, one mainly Bolivia, other in north. One F. tigris from Bolivia. Margays from Rancho Grande. | The division hopes (but private land, monthly) to make a large reserve in SW Guarico, east of San Fernando.
JO mentioned trip up river to W. from Puerto Carreño, but saw no jaguars. On trip to Apure, Bolivia, see me a two at best, said José Luis. | Tower Blohm, Caracas conservator, has ranch in far west central Guarico, near Corojo Pardo - protection, but not jaguar country. Food - JO said took capybara. Said to pull pleaton afftuller & eat. Said that horse have say eat egg turtle. So far, no request to kill jaguar because of cattle depredation. | In general, JO has little experience. Late, tho he is very earnest & helpful. He said only two game officials (wards ?) in country trying to get nos. Army branch guards roved in some areas, like H. Ritter, & few apacheband hunters. 5 June 1972 Talladega w. swifts & martens. | Borrowed 20 snep traps from Ojarti and set them along lower part of trail from Patochelo to Prequitos (roads). Took a leg'd from branch'd along Trail, a frog from path (species). Tore apart a sated through many branch'ds, but found no salamanders. No rain eve.
6 June 1972. The 20 traps held 1 Heteromys, 1 Gryzomyx. Both at base tree in shady forest near ridge. Also speckled up large Drypsteris little by light last eve. | The museum here has 3 Bolitoglossa salamanders, 2 taken 1961 as in regular collector's; one (new white from fadiq) in public display museum - many mounted birds & mammals there too, & visitors allowed inside. I found none.
