Apure. / Ceded Apure - hunt to remove jaguar & predators first - later for sport and skin. Many lose their family. Amazonian - probably stable population. Burning of llanos may harm jaguar little as they are in forest along rivers. Fire makes temporary improvement for deer, capybara, other prey. Hunting - probably use dogs. Call-in jig. Probably little night hunting. Jog, was a game animal with season in 1970; now completely protected by law. (Can be hunted w. special license). Skin smuggled to Colombia via Puerto Carreno and Arauca, for sale. Commerce in skin prohibited before 1970. Bura - only shotgun allowed, w. 10 or 2 lbs. Gun permit + hunt license (annual). Ordering license 20 B., special (big game), 10-50 B. Padre - H. Pettini has some ocelots, margays (apennines in Colombia). Also on Isatoporos N.P. (N. of Altamira, E. of Maravay). Caracinos N.P. about 1 million hectares; many tourists go there. Zoo "Los Delicias", Dn. Bilbao, Maravay, for jaguars. Mondolfi has rent (?) ocelot paper, perhaps in El Farol. / Commercial hunters - came from Colombia. Put some new bait (nylon rod through pipe), J.C. for beard.
