To Texpan, Nayarit, Mexico
un apples. Walked on W.-columnar cliffs, water trekkers, moss,
flowers, woodpeckers, turkey vulteros, hummingbirds, lute
solidavacot - to La Fregueta. Man offered ride - so continued
on down with him to La Union. There hopped bus to Penitas, the
junction to Texpan, arriving about 7:30 p.m. Equinops was barking.
shrimp - freezing term. Bus to Texpan (up $1.50 peso), & ruminators
down,
moderate term, with a fur-newish border. Went to La America hotel
blocks from NE corner of plazas ($25 pesos, w. both for 2).

To Santa Cruz, Nayarit
Can go across river to San Vicente by canoe; also down by boat
to Mescaltitan, from S.V. Boat to Mescaltitan leaves 6:00. We took
6:40 bus to Penitas, walked N. to Mescaltitan road (38 km. tom.) -
walked W on road. Soon picked up by truck, w. 3 men from
shrimp coop (Jose Perez Medina, Ramon Atunola, and Francisco
Crozg Vazquez (20+yr student). Truck Truck took us to Santa
Cruz, & on to Playa Colados. New road since a year ago; turn;
off to Mescaltitan (9 km.). Pool at first on solid ground thru
clumps mesquite, cultivated fields (peppers, beans, mangoes).
saw occasional gpr. quail on road. Sawed large green
spiders
equinor. Caracans, owls, fish craves, black-necked stilts
in ponds, snowy egrets. Then into area mangroves, lagoons,
water lilies; jacanas, American egrets, common grous,
green herons, great blue herons, Louisiana (?) herons, zat
breeds of terns. Fine looking country. Large flycatcher w.
yellow belly, brown body, black head, large white eye stripe.
