C. Kofod. Felis onca 21 April 1972 Ft. Huachuco, Arizona Shot missed and cat looked dead, but revived and rushed. Eventually cornered in pocket by two, when Dale walked him to Mr. Roche's. When client arrived, Dale had him to pull tail jaguar; client declined, but shot jaguar. Amaralito - Fred H[er] was once client of Ben T[ea]ler, who made him skin his own. Later hunted w. Lee (Ferguson also mentioned [Hollanda]). The Donnel (sp?), now dead, Chicago publisher, made movie recordings, with help of Dale, and promised Dale copies, but never gave them. Ransel Feist (sp?), client of H.I got a 75 lb. jaguar - then Dale showed him photos of second 150lb. bird. / One of Panai's men trapped a jaguar, and suggested that Dale get Proch (sp?) to hunt it. In Honduras, J. Proch (sp?) buys jaguar in New Orleans and releases for client. Sign tracks, w. scours, in more round, toe rounds; pad more round, less triangular, and posterior crease states. Impossible to tillage of track, says Dale. Scratching - jaguar does not scratch after arriving. (Bunnies may scratch up pile of feces, w. front feet, new as a carcass.) No special signs of jaguar noted. / Like most hunters, Dale emphasized personal aspects of his share, but he seemed a keen observer and accurate. We talked at least 4 hours, including seeing his slides and photo prints. He also had a jaguar-cat drum, which he had made of regular drumhead; Dale said that he would like to take someone on another jaguar hunt in Mexico. He would be an excellent guide to visit former hunt site.
