we went more gone farther to S, the less than before. We saw several outboard motor in dugout during the day. A bull had been killed; women hustled over meat. Lunch for all. Then a pile of "tender pacentu" made & put in worktub over open fire to cook. Several man sat in gpo, drank aguacatite.
We all went out 300 yds. into forest to put a cross, 2 candles and a glass of water at site where the paton had been killed.
One launch came w. group including two with guns. One man shot a perched black pulitzer from a tree; it fell in water and was not retrieved.
We waited for tide to turn - then rowed back to Kopespolka. Put up last net. Warm sticky evening.
28 February 1972. No catch of date, tho saw several new shed; but 3 large matra in net. Prepared to go by paddled canoe to San Palmer; took about 2 1/2 hrs. Saw usual birds on route - about 5 orpige insel, large & small kingfisher, hishaden & kingbird. A white head poked up out of midstream; = perro de agua, otter? The only outlet to ocean is near San Palmer; a similar town, San Baran, located there.
Yesterday saw a squirrel cucho in big mangrove at La Concepción. Later, at Koespolka, a lute (?) atop tree, gray color, band tail; wingtips extends beyond tip tail. It flew out 20 yds., returned to perch. Onis in waterside mangrove yesterday, and on Koespolka.
