We camped in thatched open sided shed. We walked 1/2 hr. on trail leading W. Saw a pampas deer driving motionaler on a river, 12' up (10 min. later, in same position). In fairly open spot. Tail had short black hair; no speck evident. Pancho said there were deer deer (family was), tapir, antler, peco, porco, rocun, tapicosti, ocelot, tiger, (armadillo, anteater (no javel)). Only open water salty. Kacayaka a dry lagoon area surrounded by mangroves; Toketi was within such an area, reached by trail to E. (where Don Miguel had thatched shed for camping). On river to ground, main big tree in "Yopote del agua"; cut in bark indicate it is a source of chicle. Many from palma, coco palma; some milpas. In evening, a Nyctibius perched 100' SE of our camp shed, next to top a vertical dead branch, so that he appears to be part of it. We paddled 1/2 hr. in dark (moonlight) in canoe, with light. Saw 2 logartos, about 1' and 3' long, size of an "armada" (gar fish?), size of family of opossums (4+ - white eyed) a few pairs of other red eyes (porcuna's, rocunas?). 26 February 1972. Dry night.
