C. Koford 1956 Dasypus novemcinctus September 15, 1956 Barro Colorado (long C.), about 10 a.m. Saw one near Alice Creek at start of Barbour Lathrop trail. Nosing into holes beneath leaves, very busy. No smell noted. August 8, 1956. Notes of Carl Rettenmeyer. Three young about 50m dow E. of JVT 2.8 at 8 p.m. About half length of adult size. At 11:30p.m. One adult about 50m n. of + JVT Big Tree. October 27, 1956 at Donato 2 1/2 a large dead one in trail, little meat left, smelling badly. 22 January 1957 In evening about 5:30 p.m. One dug under a drying pile of loose grass near E. end of Test Table Bldg. When alarmed it suddenly dashed out & down the slope toward creek. 24 January 1957 Murl Deusing saw one near SM 1a 2 and tried to catch by tail. 1961 9-8 NVF JAN 26 1957 Early in night W.C. Lundy saw one near AVA 5 1/2. 31 January 1957 Saw one near AVA B, one near Test Table Bldg. + (same?) later near 1952 Lob. Rest under loose veget- ation with nose. Can run very fast in dark. 21 March 1957 P.G. Hawes found one fairly fresh but eaten except for skull & one foot, on Armour trail. 28 May 1957 Sue found dead one on trail near TB 1.
