Barro Colorado Is., Canal Zone
Last evening about 9 p.m. I saw one (apparently this) in branches
of a Ceropia miflora near AZM house. Red eye shine. Ran slow
branches easily, rarely using long tail around trunk. I set a
live trap on fallen breadfruit tree (fell about July 20) nearby,
baisting with banana, & caught one this morning. Weighed 700gms.
& had at least 3 young, naked, about 40 mm. C-R length, in pouch.
Blackish long hair most pelage, grey short hair, brownish belly. Tail
white distally & coiled. Remanda toe 5, FR (front right posternum).
Released at fallen breadfruit tree 100' NW AZM house. // Similar
trap set evening but no catch by 8 a.m. Aug 2. // Evening Aug.1st
saw similar in leafleted Ceropia SE 100' of Barbour House. Red eye
shine. or 4" diam. Branch 20' up, beneath crown. Very long
naked tail long straight down, white distal 1/2 at. In dark more not
long appearing. Appeared dark pelage above, light below.
November 4, 1956 Live trap set near log at S.M I took
one small or. & had 3 small ticks tail. Weighed 235
gms. Clipped R F (T)) toe. Released at New Lab.
November 25,1956. Trapped & weighing 1025 gms. on duty
at Short Cut to Molino. Pouch empty. Outer R foot toe gone-the
one marked Aug.1 apparently. Tame compared to Caluremys.
December 3, 1956 + his is commonest carcass or road
between Sambava Belboa, continual 3 in that distance.
December 26, 1956. Saw one in Loba S. of Chapman House in evening.
January 2, 1956 Saw one in same loba. In descending trunk it met
ascending larger one. Red eyeshine.
January 12, 1956. Saw 1 or 2 small twins in evening in big loba
S.of Chapman House. Caluremys & Potos same tree.
