over on stem palm leaf 20' above ground.

from tree to tree 30 feet above ground with much noise of
crashing.
December 22, 1956 About 50 yds. S. of TB 10 one 30 ft. above
ground in tree.
23 January 1956 In afternoon Murl Densing caught one
lay tail near SM 2 and brought in to photograph. Appari
ent &. Sleeps rolled up with forelegs or head tucked
out of sight under body. Alarmed sometimes stands with
hind feet far apart, propped lay tail, forelegs spread
wide, as if ready to embrace.
24 January 1956 Densing photos in movies & I in
stills the anteater. Placed on bare vine it ascended
slowly to top. Later came crashing down, & I put in
cage to hold for examination. Can be carried by tip
of tail, shakes down when tries to climb up to bars.
1 In afternoon I saw one at AVA 2½. It ascended 15'
tall palm rapidly, then remained very quiet at top.
I tried 35 mm. color photos in top. Kept in cage.
26 January 1957 Nearly dead in cage (perhaps was in sun), & died by
noon. Made skin skeleton.
