Koford, CB 37 Colobus abyssinicus 4 November 1965 80' ups (photod) tho we stood 10 yds. from bosc tree + even other stones Kibale Forest, Toro Uganda. towed him. 7 w. inf. jumped inconvenienc^e. rather tena group; all remain- ed within 50 yds. ofus on road in open. /Drove to 6.5 but saw no more. 1737, P.R.O.15 -N., 200yds.; 2 odo. in Maribania (where seen a few 20'days ago). Now seen in walk to 2.1 and back, until 3 or seen 1.27 W. at 100 yds. Kibale Forest, Hnia Block 5 November 1965. Mr. Rutherford showed me Eucalyptus seligra (sp.?) grove 3^1/2 yrs' old, trees 8' apart, adjacent to edge forest (Hnia block N. of F.T.P.-Kampala Rd.), where colobus said to strip bark & kill trees. Trees 5-6" diam, ^25'-35'tall. Damaged for 7 rows back from edge. Dry branches all broken from bole. Basal bark gauges lost + some short strips bark torn off. More torn off in short (reel-like) sections all up trunk and top 6-6' dead & branchless. R. said there largest tree attacked. In other area trees badly damaged were cut, & then sprouts from stumps. Big forest trees to 70' nearly touching eucalypts at edge. We saw 2 C. alps. nearby, thot not in eucalypt. Two trees wired for firewood for the factory. Along road to highway saw one juv 3 diet (intue) which stayed 50', while we in car. (R. said occas. chimp's this forest.) Kagera Sawmill Rd. 1/700, Chipi Comm area, 6 (2 juv; 3 + white rip); 2 C. hodinsi uli 50'; & a blue also near. P.R. 1.5 N 100 yds., 7 o't (incl. 07, 28, juv. 20:3yrs). ate camp. leaf (Fagara?), but later to Maribania, Celtie area. (Broken see - station after midday rain.) /1.2 W, 6 in Celtie & Alea (incl. juv.1). Walking S. ^1.25 W, ^200") Tant, wary; started to flee at 150 yds.; 1 or closest to road by 50 yds., /1.35 W, 2 odo, or 4. Took alarm at 100 yds., then stayed as I walked by at 50 yds. 1.95 W, "bird tail" in sp. 5; cooling. Walked to 2.15 (1810), & 5 again. (135, 1.38 W, 2 odo. about as before.
