18 October 1965. Kapwata, N. side Mti Elgon, Uganda
(in siti River)
A forested slope of 1000' acres about 1 mile S. of rest house.
Slope of N. aspect. In evening heard calls from at least
2 places here. I climbed to "fire town" in upper part of
softwood plantation - a 100' rock w. shelter atop. Good
lookout spot for treetop monkeys. About 1730 saw 1, &
eventually 4 ads. including one w. ½ tail missing, in
front of
brood of trees against the E. face of the rock. White hair
of back larger than at F.T. Patol; probably tail too - for
I saw one man w. white tail tips on stick or fly
whirls, and another one near Bumasifwa (17th). If
possession permitted, how prevent killing? Rain right.

In occasional lifts clouds surveyed forest slopes
and saw gps. of 7, 3, 4 at dist. about 1 mile;
gps
in tops green trees (one dead), all 200+ yds. apart,
