Koford, CB 24 Colobus abyssinicus 5 October 1965. Toro Game Preserve, Toro Uganda. yds. farther S. (Front then thinned to 5). Warmy, calmy 8/10 overcast. as sky brightens monkeys descend into foliage, mostly out of sight. (Ad. + juv. C. aethiops) top are folaged 80+' tree, visible on rounded crown, tho no other spp seen in tree). | about 4 mile S. of. Woro Camp, walked to E. side new, when tree somewhat sparsely, saw 6 (incl. 1 inf, 1 juv.) 1030 in small tree; not always tallest, right or tree, & rarely most folaged. | Then directly opposite Woro camp, saw none in usual small clumps (leaves ?). | 1120, nr. camps, 2 playing by tree B. and 2 there 1500 (1 juv.). [Photod the A,B,C']. Only 5/10 overcast; wind 5 lbs. | 1700, about 7 ascended saw 9 60' new-folaged tree at edge grass 100 yds S. of our camp & fed (leaves smooth, D about 4"x1", simple & alt.) (some small flowers ?' too). incl. 2 juv. tops. 4 juvs. (2 about 1 yr) and subad., 07, no infs. I approached slowly afoot, & 1-2 at x they descended & jumped or dropped down into bushes, 2 juvs. first, an adult last. One big 07 came to close branch & fac-ed me as if in threat. All gone when I about 60 yds. dist. | Noe seen nr tree B, but at 1540 about 9 (+ gray inf.) in top of tree C, where foliage sparse. | Heard none at night from camp. 6 October 1965. 0700, 2 or t in tree B, seen in tree A' (mod heavy foliage; simple large dull leaves - the most consistently used roost tree, tho small), and 9 in top of C - seen still there at 1000, & I collected sample les. & fruit. (Round grow fruits 5 mm diam; leaf veins rather digitate; pale bark somewhat scaly, buttressed trunk, no epiderm.) Mon.
