Koford, c/b 22 Colobus abyssinicus 2 October 1965 Toro Game Preserve, Toro Uganda in same tree as before (inf. to 1' from mother). Went to area .2 mi. S. of game lodge (about 1.5 mi. S. of bridge) & scanned for monkeys where can overlook treetops. Atop W. bank in tree, saw 3 obs. About 250 yds. S. of these, 3 in top green round-topped tree, + 2 obs. 200 yds. S. of these in dead topped tree & another 200+ yds. farther S. These about now; hot, best way. Using binos + telescope to sweep tops trees from top of E. bank, when saw see 4/2 mile out of forest along stream. Back at camp, two who heard C was much had sample alt. leave. 3" long, digitate veins @. Walked in the woods 1/4 mile E. + looked, but visibility shot so walking an elephant paths easy. The clump tree across R. from Wora Camp still bed gp. 16.50, mil. jun.; this clumps about 75 yds. wide, then an animal would have to go thru grass gp. Probably forest to bridge to S., area of "B" prob. closest gp. N. of bridge (1 seen thru eve), the two about 3/4 mile apart. Rain. 3 October 1965. Alto-cu-strat. clouds. Monkeys at tree C, A', and m. B. Counted up to 10 (+inf.) of C; by 0800 then bed word 100 yds. E. in trees. A band of 20+ Pop's spent night within 200+ yds. of the C. a. in trees. Both colobines at night. 10 a.m., from near lodge saw 1 or 2 in mature only. Calm, muggy, 9/10 overcast. At 1155, 2 or 3 still in tree B, only about 5 yds. from. Returned to near lodge 1700 & surveyed forest. Saw gps. of 4 (1 jun.), 4 (1 juv.), 4 (1 juv.), 1, + heard one other. Closest gps. about 250 yds. apart. Their foli-age most there so counts difficult. 4 October 1965. Cu-stratus overcast. About 0700, 5 or + in tree (100yds NE of tree C), top of high rounded tree. 3 or + near tree B. /0900, surveyed 1/4 mile E & S. of game lodge. Saw gps. of 4 at (2 juv.) and similar
