Kofod, CB 14 Colobus abyssinicus 21 September 1965 Kibale Forest, Toro, Uganda About 80yds. E. of them, 7 mon (1 juv.); all same band? Nearly saw 5± C. ladius within 100' of abyssinicus. There in fact to N. of highway & adjacent to it. They ate whole fresh green leaves, Macadamia size & shape (opposite, simple, crenally). One od. in branch tree but fellled off that leaf sprouts from trunk. 7 spread 100 yds. or above? Juven. in one tree (photo; skyline). /1225, mi. 1.1 on Sounmil Rd., 20yds. to E. and 3 to W. in trees. /1600, Bridth. Rd. 0.25, 50yds. to S., 6 at odor, + black inf. carried (tree & group?). And juven. 2-3yrs. None in tree A, B, C. /1625, mi. 1.3 W., 10± incl. juv. Seem prefer this tree or if planted. /1830, 1.9E., lone od. J7 in tree. Another lone od. J7 at mi. 1.6 W. 22 September 1965. Vividly; clear, calm. Walked trail at NE corner of 0815 tiny tie fields & saw 5 (+ one inf.) in treetops near stream. Few dead trees here. (C. ladius seen yesterday in branch tree in vicinity). /0910, Bridham Rd.. .05, 2od. J7J 40' up, together (to 3?). One descended when we were 200 yds. distant (same 2 double trees). / Mi. 1.35 W., single J7 od. looked thin tree (same oo before here?). / Mi. 1.2, gurgle calls to E'4 mi. up to 13 in succession, rising in pitch, then descending: 1000, .05 Bridh. Rd.; J7 atop five new loc'd tree to W. None in tree A, B, C, but 4+ to 5. of 0.25 (oo earlin.)? Rain at 1 p.m. 23 September 1965. Mod. foggy; slither, calm. 0755, on trail to creek at NE corner Bridham's tea field, 5+ miles with 10± C. ladius in scrambling thru leafy tree. Jumps shorter, starting farther out & end- (C. ab.) ing shorter than C. ladius. Saw 1 carried infant. On jumping same gaps, start farther back & end farther in than C. alyps., jumping higher & with greater abandon. 0810, J7 at mi top of most fallow 100 ft. tree (simple flowers, 4"), including inf. and (on + juven.) 100 yds.
