Koford, C.B. Colobus abyssinicus 18 September 1965 Kibale Forest, Toro, Uganda lind. / 1020, all gone from tree C. Mod. breeze, 2/10 clouds. / Tree B "snagtooth" gave way broken "bartender" or approached. Two dogs in shade leaves in tree B; snagtooth dog sitting doubled forward, / 1700, tree A, gp. of 11 incl. 3 ad. to to. Gradually jumped tree A to B, 2 od. to near last. About 1730, all gone from area. / 1825, 1 adult alone to W. at prri. 1125. Now seen near Pritham Road 0930. 19 September 1965. 1030, along Elephant Path. Path; 3, fairly wild, 20-30' up in mod. foliage. Walking toward MpyazaK., 1035, heard the loud gurgling barks from big sprea- leaved trees. (reached near 1045.) About 1200 near same spot, heard 2 howling perhaps 100 yds. apart - territorial calls? Muggy day. / 1238, 0,1 on Pritham Road, 3 on road seemingly feeding, perhaps from center grassy strip. Included the "snagtooth" to of usual tree A bird. They dashed thorough these herbaceous vegetation + up tree (to N. of road). Others in trees on S. side, including "bartender" to. / 1245, tree C, q - 2 ad. to to, qu, gray-locked inf., qu w. black inf., + 3 more odds. Spread on branches; one with all legs dangling. Qu juv. on same branch, 8' from to. / 1400, tree C, band of 11 including inf. of other groups, 4 juvs. Only stayed together in tree, foll- owing each other playfully (no contact seen). 2-3 x more in next hour I saw them together without others (one about 1 yr.; 3 2-3 yrs.; one floga a ?). / The 11 incl. juv. est. 1+ 2 yrs. old. / One od. to in tree held rear toward another + turned head back, toward it to side, possibly smelling lips; then walked away (presenting?). / 1425, tree C, of 10, 1 inf, 2 or 3 2-3 yrs. juvs. Also on redtail within 8' of some; later
