1 October 1965.
Mt. Weso Bridge, Toro Game Preserve, Toro:
In evening occasional loud sharp dog - like bark from forest riv.
(3 juvs.)
riv., & soon 2 in single large spreading tree with dull green large heart-
shaped leaves. There within 50 yds. of where Colobus alips. seen earlier
a brown vulture w. white head sat atop tree, & once a flock of green pigeons
landed there. Drooping common. About 60' up in tree, an large rain
birds.
2 October 1965. About 0200 heard to bark, & Colobus in area to bark,
as if from intruders. 0700, still in tree (same), & noisy fight (?)
broke out. Others ran toward the fighting sounds. Once, apparently,
by 0900, the Colobus in night trees still. | Rain in afternoon.
But baboons both in same tree before 7 p.m.
3 October 1965. Much barking & apparent fighting sounds 0630.
Left the tent about 0730, & soon saw 2 in bushes & small tree within
50 yds. of our tent. Occas. fed, but mostly sat, grooming, and
still nearby at 0915. In 28 baboons, only 2 seemed to be infants,
& sevl juvs. Walked thru 2' high grass at times, & ascended isol-
ated 25' tree. Allowed human approach to about 100' before descended.
Resp. settled for night 1/4 yds. N. of previous site.
4 October 1965. About 7 a.m. heard, but not seen, from camp.
About 1/4 mile upstream from game lodge in isolated tree & low
edge bushes of forest, 12 (juvs. but no juvs. seen).
6 October 1965. By morning, no others seen or heard near
our camps, the Colobus came as before. So probably
variable in night resting site.
23 October 1965. I saw one atop flat-topped tree from road thru
Rabairo game preserve, SW of Mt. Kodaw, 2 p.m.
