Cercopithecus mitis
1 November 1965 Kibale Forest, Toro, Uganda
at least 3 (one
juv.) in big Balanite; one lay prone on thile mossy branch, rest-
ing (?). Tails usually T in walls. Prob. 6-8 blue in area of
(3 in 10 yd. drain)
200 yds. N.E. and 4 more across road at 1.3 E: Spots sunshine
after rain brought out? Mostly in Merhania & Celtis. Same in
same tree as I saw Colobus badius recently, nr. 1.3 W. Two
followed, one after other, same "path" thru branches going E, &
another +3 min. later. One ½ yr. old juv. seen in big Balanite.
1.6 W., blue call "nyaw." 1.7W., one 20+ yds. fr. road in 15' tall
dense large (6") leaved bush (D); which tree. (in same
brush ½ hr. later too.) Many blues today; why?
2 November 1965. Morning, one stop dead top tree, another 30'
lower, O. 85 E. 200 yds. One "nyaw" toward me on road. (1630,
2 O. 9E. 50' away, 15' ups. Rather tame. / about 1600, 2.0W,
1 blue rolled. 2.15 W., 2 in crown new fine foliaged tree, or might
be at 30, 60+ ups.
3 November 1965. about 0830, O. 8W., 2, single bird / on highway
about 1 ½ mile E. of Sannwil, 5-8 blues spread 100 yds. One in
½ dead top at edge forest; descended in alarm & went toward others.
One in big but dead tree. / 2.02 W., 4. A smaller ground a very
large one. at least 3 C. l'hoesti within 50 yds. / about 1730, 1.55
W.; 1 in match about 12' ups, nr. road.
4 November 1965. 1035, O. 82W., loose gp. 3 blue, 1 redt., 1 red colobus.
1.0 W., one . 1.5 W., one 12' ups on trunk Trena, closet to road. / about
1800, at least 3 in tree at 1.96 E., another 50 yds. distant; much Celtis
brush.
