Cercopithecus mitis
19 October 1965 Kapuata, Mt. Elgon, Uganda NE foliage (Colobus abyssinicus within 100 yds.) Heard "nyaw" other xx.
21 October 1965, about 3 p.m. heard one from "fire tower" to S. on near side Siti Riva (Col. abyss. also in area). Saw one on open branch at sharp edge of forest to NW. From front appeared black spot for face area. Stayed some period ½ hr. +.
27 October 1965. Kibale Forest, Toro, Uganda
Near 1500, overcast, at NE corner tea estate, one ate yellow flowers in same(?) then 1800.
60' Maribania; Samuel road 1.7 W., heard one at 1610, nyaw,
1.8E., 2 in Trema, eating leaflets from tips. 1.9W., 1 ad.
10' up in Trema. 2.0W., 2 20-30' up in Oltor (?) tree;
one called; another "nyaw" 200 yds. S.
28 October 1965. 1605, one in Maribania. No other seen in slow census drive 0.3 to 2.1 on Samuel Road. Drier than yesterday.
29 October 1965. Saw one 1.6W., morning. None in evening walk from Pridham's house to 2.1 and return,
30 October 1965. About 1715, one sat quietly on thick open branch 20' up, while about 2 away a redtail 30-40'+ actually feeding. Devil-blue more noctive than redtail? lower? / + large juv.
Heard 1 call "nyaw" at 1.9W. 2.1W., 3 spread 20 yds. in top of tiny-new-leaved tree w. simple ovate leaves (not Oltor or Maribania). 100yds. from me. One called "Nyaw." 1735. Have not before seen any monkeys this tree, in oft surveyed area.
1 November 1965. Samuel road, 1540, 1,2 W., at least 6 in area. 2 in one small tree (3 redtail within 100yds.).
