(blue monkey) Cercopithecus mitis 22 August 1965. Kibale Forest, 7 mi. E. Ft. Portal, Uganda. About 6:50 p.m. I saw one gp. of 5 in tree in sparse foliage about .7 mi. S. of Kagena samuel, within 1/4 mile of road camp, by road. on / Twice at other sites I saw 1 only. | about 10 10:28 24 August 1965. About 10 a.m. saw 1 alone, & .2 mi. S. of Bridham [= mi. 1.3] Turnoff of main rd. S. from Kagena samuel, adult, about 30' ups. Photod jump (b4u). | About 4:30p.m., in record forest patch (about 1 1/2 mi.) E. of Kangawana Forest Sta., saw gp. of 5 in dark tall forest, about 40'ups. Later, about 5-6 p.m., saw gp. of about 7 in dark forest about 300yds inside first forest patch to E. of Forest Station. Twice saw one adult grooming another. Once saw two about 10' apart eating leaves. Leaves about 6" ( ), apparently slightly pulverulent, of 20 ft. tree nr. flowers just terminal, m. white. They folded leaf & ate at underside edge, or ate at flat part & pulled out preier leaf leaving the big veins. Blue groups seem diffuse compared to Colobus, & perhaps smaller. I saw an ad. alone in crown tall tree over road, inactive at 6:30 p.m. Many tall umbrella-topped trees, as if forest nearly mature. Little sign of truck traffic. QEN.P., SW Uganda 26 Merengambo 27 August 1965. About noon I saw one in forest near Kaigileini N.P. in Queen Eliz. Bith N.P., from road bridge . Nr. Fort Portal, Uganda 6:05 p.m. 27 August 1965. About 1pm: 6.5 mi rd. S. of Kagena Samuel, 2 ad. in sparsely foliaged broadleaf tree, 30'up 30'tree. | about 1pm. 6:08, 6:12 pm.; 2 adults on their bare branch 60'up an 80'tree; little foliage. One groomed other, still there 1/2 hr. later, after rain shower (one larger than other). | 6:55pm, about 1km. from 6.6, one 25'up in clear under mod. foliage, 30yds S. road.
