Koford, CB 6 Colobus badius 30 September 1965 Kibale Forest, Toro Uganda. within 6' are another u/s apparent interaction. Rolf saw intersp. action: ♀ ad. C. alyps. chased juv. C. badius, then large C. b. chased back the C. alyps. Other similar obs. A big C. b. seemed to displace ad. C. alyps. on perching place. One ad. C. alb. gave feint at ad. C. b. No clear interspecies dominance etc. ad. C. alb. dom. over juv. C. b. and prob. big C. b. dom. over some (♂?) ad. C. alb.! about 1730, 1.3W, 10± incl. ind., 10t juvs, 1st inf. - now about much svery difficult to count. 1.3E., 3 in area of 4 ad. C. alyps. When a truck passed on road, one came bounding thru tree towards us or if to threaten, & stood giving "chi, chi" calls (red mouth lining con- spinous); shook branch as if in threat. Brown eyes watch crown. Some in Markhamia. One within 10' of 2 C. alyps. in same tree. C. badius groups diffuse - hard to tell whether a group or just scattered, at times - possibly join just to feed. 7 October 1965. Driving S. on saumiel road, mi. 1.35 W.; [dead ?] seal in tall spreading Balanite & other trees. In first at least 5 ad. + 10t juvs., + 5± in another tree 50yds. distant. One walked 70' to another, lay prone, & was groomed. From S. came an ad. C. alyps. thru tree when 5 C. badius; then a no overt restroi. Above, / 1.35 W., 7 incl. juv. and infant in Balanite, when one at C. alyps. now. 8 October 1965, 1745, 1.36 W., 12± incl. 2 juvs. + inf., in some of same trees as last evening. Seclude in dense foliage smell of spr. I do not thier appear think used by C. alyps. Some in the tall Balanite + one seemed to eat foliage (C. alyps. not seen to). / 1.45 E., a single one
