Koford 20 Macaca fuscata 26 April 1966 Kinkazan, Miyagi-ken, Japan monkey, w. zinf. (black & red one); Jap. B he calls it & still think there are 2 gps. (see M. Teroda note) tho I do not. Apparently a gp. of 2-3 separate in shrine area, & a gp 2 abs. + min. often logs behind gp. B.; according to Teroda. | The oldf "Morbo" at shrine died recently. Still in cage, 3 yr & 107 od; now seems pregnant. 27 April 1966. 6 a.m., I saw big 07 atop sage of moruup at Shrine; he ran up against Thuyopsis when I to 10 meters distance. 9/10 alto-cumulus; warmish. Swelled up & thin range to Nohogane & out N ridge (to place where MT saw gp. yesterday), then look toward Nohogane, and about 0820 to SE of Mt. Shrine saw 2 adults, one appar. a big 07 & other smaller & younger (subd. 07?). Then came to boulder on a sidehill ridge, & soon walked downlope under Fagus (slight alarm at me, 100 m. distant & close). I waited 5 min.; saw no more; thought only 2 there. Then near Nohogane I met Teroda, who had seen 07 w/inf. He still had in sight ad. 07 laying atop mossy boulder, resting or dozing. Later he pulled a 60cm stem toward & apparently ate at tip. Finally (6 yr.?) it walked N. along sidehill (prob. subd. 07, which follows gp.; long red face). Then near summit, on E. side saw 2 bgs. mins. w. ad. & 30m behind, walking S. along sidehill. 0950, E. of summit about 40m level, 2 ad. &f, both w. infant. Large one reddish, active; smaller black, held close. There on dry leaf floor slope, watched at (100 m. 1010, SE of summit about same level, saw sev'l. & yr. yelping while 2 yr. lay slopside, on mossy rock. 30' from there, & (w. red inf., which walked to 2' away) gp. ad. & w. yelping! So saw at least 7 (inf.) not including 0707. 1025, 50yds. NW of there, single ad. (red face - 07?) sawing in leaves. Red (w/black) Dors inf. pulled & mouthed bent over lily(l). Inf. walked over belly of
