Cebus capucinus September 16, 1956 Barro Colorado Is., Canal Zone I saw one descend from trees and go under A-2M house to reach through wire to get old bananas. "Juan", a pet of Wilman (photographer), was in this cage yesterday. Perhaps the two or three had been released earlier by Wilman. In afternoon a half grown young seen in trees near Chapman House. September 18, 1956. About 4 p.m. saw one riding on back of another near Chapman house; apparently mother or young. September 23, 1956. Apparently the dense foliaged tree 50 yds. SSE of Chapman House being used as food tree, for Cebus seen there almost every day recently, at least 3 there this morning about 6:30 a.m. Also fairly common along the trails - saw 2 or 3 times more often than Alouatta. October 2, 1956. Still common near clearing. In a.m. about 9 saw 3 (±) in broad leaved tree 100' SSE of Chapman House - favorite tree at this season. On Vent Van Tyre trail saw one on ground in path, about 4 in trees near. Often seen in same places as Alouatta tho usually at different times. October 13 & 14, 1956. Now seen near Chapman House these 2 days. Nor day Oct. 23. Apparently a certain tree lost attractiveness. A white hawk apparently after two Cebus on Oct. 17 near New Lab, July 27, 1956 Carl Rettenmeier notes. 6+ DC 3- 3.5 about 10 a.m. December 8, 1956. Fairly common. Saw in balso nr. Chapman House and nr. VVT 2. December 16, 1956. Saw no visit 3 balso flowers in once.
