C.Koford 23 Journal 25 August 1965. Queen Elizabeth Nat. Park, Uganda. at Student Camps. Need rain evening. 26 August 1965. We crossed Kazinga Channel in ferry (1 car). Then drove S. across Nyamwari R. nr. Lake Edward, at corner of Merano- gamba Forest; then S. across Keizi R. (Doboon about 1 mile S) + to fishing village of Ruwehema. Then back to Katingura. Many hbl on flat green burned area. Rain prevented visit to Lake Nyamusungie, where said to be colobus & other monkeys. Back to Kalator, then N. on Oter Troch & camped nr. Doboon Cliffs, at top edge nr crest. Saw rain at night. | Saw 2 r dobons in eve. on open ground at Doboon Cliffs hilltop. | Hundreds of mandrills nr. Kalabor + Ruwehema. 27 August 1965. Drove on to Kihango + N. to Kamuli River jilloose on Lake George flats. Many wart hogs; doz buffalos, red buck, eleph- ants. Thick grass, shrubs; little apparent traffic. Returned to Ft. Patol + Selitoli. Brief obs. monkeys evening. Hail at night. 28 August 1965. Saturday. Obs. monkeys morning. Visited Bridham. Collected forest marmos (CBK 3008) 29 August 1965. Sunday. Counted monkeys along road S. of Kagera in morning. Carla K. saw 1 chimpanzee nr. Nyujata River 1030, about 15' up, hanging on branch. We first well saw Colobus abyssinicus calling rain. 30 August 1965. Camp walk, shopping, visit Bridham. 31 August 1965. Departed mid-morning via Ft. Patol with W.O. Bridham & sons + Antonio Aro Meijzan for Toro Game Reserve, 32 mi. from F.t. P., at about 2000' level. Camped at Waza Camp (tamarinds; 1/2 mile before steel bridge), within 1 1/2 mi. airline of Uganda Wildl.-Devl. Lodge.
