Takahashi, S. Honshu, Japan
Dwell town on river to forested steep hills. Want to make park at Izagyu-nisan (slope near edge town) and breed monkeys. Rain on & off. Then dep. 1134 Takah. Chased 3?x. Arr. about 1930.
Train to Nagoya. Electric train 1/2 hr. to Inuyama. / Bus to mine park at Izagyu-nisan. V. said 1/2 million yen deficit /yr. Takashi run by Oito city, takes in 15 millin, & has surplus. / Izagyu-nisan much more pleasant park, & town, than Takesakijama.

JMC, Inuyama, Aichi, Japan.
Raining; river high, muddy, fast. At JMC had conference re project and budget with Dr Kawai, Takudo, & Funaya, Azuma, Yoshida.
Evidently they had given little thought to specific details or justification of budget. Prepared list all items desired by Japanese, plus estimated costs.
6 July 1965. To Kyoto with Kawai, Nogel, Azuma, Tabulo. Confirmed.
Funaya
Dr. Miyachi, Itani, Imanishi at Dept. Anthrop., Kyoto Univ. In afternoon discussed budget. Defended them I expected about 4 mill. 300 thou. yen would prob. be approved, & they trimmed list to about that figure. Returned to Nagoya & Inuyama. Raining day.
7 July 1965. In Inuyama. Raining morning. Visited Monkey Center & exp. animal zone at former center. Budget conference. Mixed & tried Beruyl; at 1 mgm / kg, put down 12 kg. d in 5 min. (10 mg/kg mid.)
A large enclosure for Patas monkeys, with electrified fence.
Enclosure of about (1/2 acre) for bonnetes & langurs, w. wire link fence & electric wires. Both areas seemed good for study purposes, & available this year around. / Funaya says that on islets in Maruume (?) bay off Nagoya, M. cyclopis bruta seasonally, births Mar. to July; Papio all year w/o season; M. mivar all yr. w. 2 peaks, judged by tables, but upon looking at his data
