Koford 7 Journal 1 July 1965 SE Kyushu, Japan Raccoon Lodge's on island, + our fisherman + wife live there. Island 1/3.7 meters high in map, 800 meters greatest length, 200 to 500 m. from mainland, and, depending on tide. Channel w. strong current, often too rough to cross. At low tide 100+ meter sand beach on mainland side. Isd surround- ed by rock shelf, walkable; cliffs to 60' high, sandy/stone. Entire isl. thick brush + trees of many species, to 30' tall. Trails few + poor, + slopes steep; no flat ground. Near only fisherman's house.
