Mr. Hawes thinks 5 nests started but 3 poor and consist of only a few strands, other two nests progressing. 2 March 1957 The two nests in jacaranda about 2 feet long, nearly upstage. Dr. Walter Clarke photographed the birds here a few days ago (26 Feb.). Now 4 more nests started, in the adjacent Schizolobium. Two to NW + 2 to NE of the farthest advanced nests in the jacaranda. 9 March 1957 The Repensola nests now number 13- (4 arm foundation) over Test Table Bldg. - the original two over SE corner, in jacaranda; 7 over center of N side of bldg., 1 started 20' higher than there over NE corner bldg. (possibly another starting adjacent), two more about a ft. long (+ another starting) 15' higher yet, at lower edge of S. side of crown of treetop; plus group of 3 on E side of the same Schizolobium - off about halfway up. Three have only part of foundation made, but birds working on nests, so some nests starting at this late date. || Nest material consists in part of long shreds of Acacia bark pulled from near tips branches by birds with bills. 16 March 1957 Now 20 nests in the jacaranda and Schizolobium over Test Table bldg. 23 March 1957 One of the nests had fallen down, + wall had broken at base. Contained soft green dried grass in nest. Given to Paul D. Hawes. || Mr. Hawes also found on 21 March a nest 70 ft. above ground in Bombaxaceae to left of AVA 6.8. A few days later I saw this nest, then by about 6 April it was gone, but Repensola heard 200 yds. away to left of trail.
