Koford 1 Saccopteryx bilineata bat-VT August 21, 1956 B.C. Island, Canal Zone Between buttermess on big tree on East Van Tyne trail saw about 40 total, 30 being in one area on S side tree (in spike ladder). (Aug. 18 saw about 35 in same sector of tree.) took Toth flash photographs of bats on trunk: Two white dorsal stripes. September 8, 1956 about 40 in same sector of trunk, about 8 on SE side trunk. Moderately active & alert. Two white stripes on back (Saccopteryx bilineata ?). October 2, 1956 Saw about 4 on big tree on AMA (second tree on trail). Sept. 29 and Sept. 22. Today usual number on big tree on East Van Tyne trail, about 30 on S side, 8 on SE, 4 on N. August 22, 1956 Took photos of group between butter- esses on Big Tree on Van Tyne trail (3 1/4 x 4 1/4). About 40 bats. November 3, 1956 Netted #71828. At least 25 on tree be- tween buttermess. I saw one with band on wing (sent by Hall group ?). October 31, 1956 Always half a dozen or well under leaves of east end of SE wall of old Batch office. Odd somewhat Tadarida-like. November 2, 1956 There are about 6 or seven under leaves on S side of ZMA house today as usual. When she perched on vertical wall tail up as well as nose [?] . 1/ hour 3 hanging 3 +/- apart on rafters over boats under sheet metal roof. 1/2 hr evening saw a bandslave on S side by Noshins Bldg. + (netted it). #58-81501, O7, testes protruding. Released. Took some on SE side old Batch office Nov. 12, 1956, 4 released.
