2 mi. N. Summit, Canal Zone
about 300 in horizontal shafts tunnel of old termel, with 500
Carallia perspic. (which see) and Diris (few). Some freshly born
young, ad. ♂♂ present. Discarded following:
♂ 22 gm., frw. 52, testes 4 x 3 (tiny)
juvs.: ♂ 3 1/2 gm. fw. 18 - with umbilical cord attached.
(removed for weighing)
♂ 4 1/2 gm. fw. 22 - with umb. cord + bloody placenta
♂ 4 1/2 fm. 25 - no cord or prom. recent scars.
♂ 3 1/2 - 21 - with cord.
Kept ♂ and ♀♀ for specimens (cat. nos. ).
There lots in deepest part 100' long tunnel, on ceiling, packed
in solid mass. Disturbed, living in similar mass of about
2' x 5' on ceiling another part tunnel. Nose leaf especially
prominent in young (large proportionately). Kept many
parasitic flies (nos. 5004; to Ernest E. Therman, Univ. Md.).
