Chiroptera - Gen'l
January 3, 1956/7 Barro Colorado Is. Canal Zone
jamaicensis, 5 Vampyressa noja, 1 Myotis liliifolium, and 1
caribaeus nocturnus. Left 7 and 9 p.m. Not near Allen Cr. House took
1 Myotis nigricans, 1 Molossus molossinus, 4 by morning; 1 Myotis lili-
folium. Old net near Chapman House at edge clearing took 1 Carollia
caribaeus in morning. Most large bats came into first net when we had fords
squashed much - a regular rain of bats, many escaping net after bat-
ting it becoming only slightly entangled. Holden net set from 2 eve
near New Lab took 2 Carollia perspicillata (banded & released), 4 in a.m.
took 1 Carollia costana (C.R.K. examination). All low over grass & Piper
near shrubs.
January 10, 1957 Took a few Saccopteryx from VT Big Tree for
examination. Banded some released at Lab.
January 12, 1957 McRoberti took 3 Saccopteryx + 5 Myotis-
nigricans from Tower house. Banded & released some. Examined
others. Caught a Natalus ? in hand net at SM 1/2 6:30pm.
24 January 1957 Took a small phyllostomid in mist net low
in clearing near 1952 Lab.
13 February Took a Carollia + a glossophaga ? during night in
net near edge clearing near 1952 Lab. Two other large nets
yielded nothing. Notting much less productive in clearing than
in October and November.
31 March 1957 I put one net across trail at Bk O. By 9 p.m.
on Artibeus ? and a Carollia ?. In morning Saccopteryx
liliifolium too.
5 April 1957 Visited Fort San Lorenzo & took 2 species of
tads late in old chambers, + many bats (3 sp.) in sea
cave under fort. With David Sommerville.
