November 3, 1956 Barro Colorado Is., C. Z.
At east side Donato a dead tree held up by large wires. When struck log two small bats flew out of hollow, 3' above ground.
In daylight 6 to 7 a.m. small & med-sized bats were one 5M near 1 and 2 marks, flying back & forth,
November 13, 1956 In evening went to dead tall tree in water 150 yds. NE of Plantation Point. First bat left tree 5:58 p.m. There were very small & flew very fast down & away. In all about 30 small ones came out of 3 holes in trunk. About 6:05 first large bat out, 4 about 5 in all; possibly Noctilio's. All out by 6:10 p.m. apparently.
November 20, 1956 Put up mist net across Bk trail about ½. At about 8 p.m. removed a large Antilene and a small phyllostomid with facial stripes. None in net 10 p.m. at 2:30 a.m. 2 small lepid. At 6 a.m. one small lepid, rather gray. Holes in net indicate some escapes. Probably lost to sleep near net and tend it all night.
November 22, 1956. A net near kitchen took a Molossus (coib- ercin?) about 7:30 a.m. Net near W. end New Lab took a Uracina? about 8 p.m. Kitchen net took Curinus about 8 p.m., nothing else by noon.
November 28, 1956. Put up net on S. side Chapman House parallel to edge of clearing. During night took 2 Antilene lituratus (two objects released) and 3 Chiroderma? Clear evening, then rain; 2 C. and one Ant. got in net after 10 p.m.
December 2, 1956 Chilibre, Panama
Visited Chilibrillo Cave which have opening about 200 yds. from road to Coln. Still intact with hundreds of bats hanging on ceiling of limestone cave about 30 ft. high in parts. Cluster
