July 13, 1956 BCI, Canal Zone
CW Rettenmeyer of Kansas Univ. told me there is trail on
W. side of Whelen trail at 3 mark. Another men Miller
trail, crossing shortest to Baldom Lathop.
July 17, 1956. Two tame come to barn near
Dutchin ( + costini too). Porangra says Dutchin by
him as young last September.
October 16, 1956 New Fairfield 12 found an imp.
dead, hole in side, rotting. Attention called by one
Calthers on ground, and stench.
July 29, 1956 Carl Rettenmeyer note. There at DC 4-3.
Traces & old TB 8.1.
August 9, 1956 Carl Rettenmeyer notes. 3 or 4 near
DC 4.3-4.7, 3, went overest DC 4.3-4.7, at 6:10 p.m.
6:15 p.m., 6 downhilled to NE; some smaller than others.
DC 3.5 one went downhill 6:15 p.m. (old with white
patch center left side).
October 27, 1956. Along TB smelled peccary & saw
tracks. From base of large tree with strangler figs near TB
5 (?) two ran across trail & away, 25 yds. ahead of
gp. people. Soft dark amorphous droppings and much
paved ground on trail near site.
16 April 1957 Near Dorato 4 I saw 3 adults with three
small young ( brown). They snorted & dashed back & forth
across the trail & trees in 2 min. young followed adults,
severly. Young sometimes froze. Apparently eating large fleck
of black palm fruit.
21 March 1957 P.G. Howes saw 2 at AVA 5, large.
