Falco peregrinus
12 May Chena Bluffs, College, Alaska
Pair of adults was seen flying
around the bluffs below the old
trading post. Fresh remains: ruffed grouse,
13 May Chena Bluffs - arrived the cliff
for nesting. The small, low shelf ca
2 x 2 feet square & sloping out rather
abruptly - used in 1951 was not
occupied and showed no recent usage.
The large shelf where numerous
remains of previous were found in 1953
measures as follows: 10 ft across
at the back and 4 ft wide at widest
point - slope very gently outward -
covered with chist chips 4-8" dia-
metr down to dirt particles. One
fresh peregrine in coope end of the
upper end of shelf - places for 2053
other ravages on the ledge, ledge is 75
feet above river and 40 feet below
the bluik - not accessible w/o rope,

at least 2 other 2 x 2 foot sites are
available on the same cliff - no
indication that eggs were present - falcons
showed little concern over my presence on cliff.
