Buteo lagopus
20 May Pitmegea River - a very light
headed and light-chested ? was
seen sitting on a knoll on the
ridge northeast of camp across
the river.
21 May Pitmegea - another ? of some
description was attacked briefly
by a gyrfalcon as she flew flying
across this ridge toward the
mouth of the river.
22 May Pitmegea - two birds, a light
one, and one darker, flew by
camp at 1430, passed the mouth
of the river and continued south
along the coast.
23 May Pitmegea - four birds in ?
plumage were seen soaring in
a strong wind over the upper
end of the long ridge on the right
limit above camp. One had molted
inner primaries (? th?). Three
were very light, one was somewhat
darker.
24 May Pitmegea - one was seen on the
high ridge across the view from
camp, one was seen at the gyrfalcon
cliff, and one was seen over the
long ridge across and above from camp.
