1, Cade 1958 Aythya manila 4 August Okfilak Lake A female with a brood of 8 1/2 gossoon ducklings was seen on the little lake just SE of Okfilak. 5 August - Two hens each with a brood of 8 ducklings were seen on Okfilak Lake in the evening. At this time there were no ducks on the little lake, so one of the groups apparently had moved down the drain from little lake into OKfilak. These broods were harassed by a red-throated loon. 6 August - In the morning hens & were back on the little lake. In the evening two broods again on OKfilak. 7 August - Both broods on OKfilak all day. 8 August - hens 9! young seen on Okfilak this morning. One young from one brood must have swum to the other brood. 9 August Okfilak Lake - 0900 - female & brood of 9 on lake by camp. 17 August Okfilak - broods seen on each of these days on this lake. 18 August Okfilak - two broods seen again - one of 9+ hens & one of 6 or 8 - same as previous group of 8? - mortality? I shot one of the 9, nearly fully feathered on body
