9 July Unmiat, Alaska
Griffin saw a hen with 5
downy about 10 days ago. Shewas
on the long pond at the SE corner of
the airstrip. Earlier he had seen
a pair of mallards in this area several
times earlier.
2 July Unmiat - a hen with 4 feathered
but flightless young was seen on a
pond just south of the main Unmiat
camp - along the road going out to the
old transmitter shack.
13 July Unmiat - another hen with a brood of
dorothy chicks (4), smaller than those
seen yesterday, was reported by
Rodke and Wilkey, who walked out
along the telephone line to the radio
station west of the main installation.
14 July Unmiat - a hen was seen in an inundated
gravel pit along the SW side of the airstrip.
