Philacte canagica
Colville River - ca 10 miles above Unicat
A single bird in adult plumage
was seen with a flock of about 10
flightless Canada geese. The Emperor
Could fly but was reluctant to do so,
perhaps because there was a strong wind
and rain was falling. Nevertheless,
I could not get close enough for a shot, but
the bird was clearly seen from about
40 yards. There is no previous record
of this goose for the river.
Philacte canagica
is now
Chen canagica
